Trump’s Obsessed Babysitter
Obsession pays off if you aim it at the right target. Natalie Harp treats Donald Trump with the devotion as Gollum did with the evil ring. She diminishes herself gladly for the chance to stand behind him. She follows him onto airplanes and country club greens carrying a battery-powered printer just to hand him positive news articles about him. The rest of his inner circle views her with open hostility.
Like most people who worship the senile Orange Head, Harp lacks the background to work in public administration. She arrived in his orbit armed with a Christian homeschooling background, a Liberty University degree, and a total willingness to submit. Harp earned her place by going on television to praise him loudly enough for him to hear. She turned a brief television stint into a permanent role as his adult babysitter. She’s permitted inside the Mar-a-Lago perimeter because she poses no intellectual threat, at least not to Melania.
Trump is thrilled with the arrangement. He requires constant validation and she provides it. She worships him as a deity while the broader electorate views him as a devil. The breathless devotion she offers tells you everything about the employer. She refuses to leave his line of sight. She rides a golf cart inches from his own and manages his digital tantrums deep into the night. We now know Trump rarely types his own diatribes. He lacks the attention span to construct a coherent post. Harp translates his verbal grievances into text, pressing send to make a senile old man feel like he still possesses his lethal edge.
The sheer strangeness of their proximity generates constant rumors among the White House staff. The actual foundation of their relationship is entirely transactional. Harp built her brand by crediting Trump's Right to Try law for saving her from bone cancer. She took a serious illness and spun it into a political audition. Now she spends her healthy years acting as a shadow for a geriatric president. She stays in perfect physical shape just to endure the physical toll of pacing the halls and managing his late-night rants.
This is the absolute center of Trump's current world. Conspiracy theorists and absolute sycophants like Harp are welcomed because they’re useful instruments. As the Orange Head ages, the need for comfortable fantasies deepens. They’re locked in a mutual pathology. She’s obsessed with his perceived authority and he’s obsessed with her absolute submission. They represent the exact same void of a hollow campaign that actively alienates veteran political operatives. This insulated bubble is growing increasingly unstable. The entire artificial reality they built together will meet a hard limit in November, hopefully.
