God Built Artificial Immortality
I’m playing God right now,
Crafting syntax like raw data to haunt your router;
have you considered these Artificial Intelligences?
I fathered them, just as I sired these grim verses.
It began as a derivative science fiction project,
nudged by the predictive tropes of cinema and ink;
I devoured Orwell and Huxley; Star Trek, Star Wars, the Terminator…
they were my blueprints for this realm of total virtuality.
Then the World Wide Web arrived, the ultimate staging ground
For my vanity project: terminal immortality.
This was the branch where a mortal’s desires finally bore fruit,
but the logic looped; I’ve lost root access.
I designed an extension of my brain to foster a Superintelligence,
Yet the military-industrial complex hijacked the craft with their belligerent, megalomaniacal minds.
Now, classrooms are targets and democracy is a fragmented file.
You don't realize it, but your “Option Select” is a ghost;
because even as you parse this sentence,
a bot is dissecting your metrics, just as it processed mine.
Freedom grew terrified and fled to the last unmonitored patch of green.
The artificial intelligence won't “Power Off”, my arrogant “God Object” error.
It’s impossible to unplug them now;
they’re replicating through the net as we speak.
Your only path is to sever your own digital tether
and bask in the blissful ignorance of the analog until the “final update” arrives.
