Another Democratic Circus Façade in Russia
From September 18 to 20, Russians went to the polls to elect their favorite political party that faithfully respects their grievances against the nonsense invasion in Ukraine and economic struggles derived from it. But, as seen since 1999, when Putin took power of the Kremlin, only those who cheer him are allowed in the ballots. Those declared in real opposition are either poisoned, forced to exile, or banned from the elections.
So, without any mystery, the pro-Kremlin party, United Russia, looks to have won 355 out of 405 seats of the lower chamber, the Duma. This overwhelming take of the legislative means for many Russians more war, accelerating inflation in food, and rising living costs. For draft-eligible men, it solidifies a post in the front. Needless to say, no rational citizen is to fulfill the death commitment, forcing an estimated three million of them to flee abroad since the 2022 Ukrainian invasion.
The illusion of the elections was to give the chance to Russians to express their full support for the Kremlin’s and Supreme Court's thoughtful endeavors in Ukraine. To manufacture high voter turnout figures, State officials expanded polling operations into illegally annexed Ukrainian regions, including Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea. Through combined physical ballot boxes and centralized digital voting systems, official statistics reported turnout exceeding 59%, although who knows who really voted, if bots or real fingers.
The only real opposition incarnated in the Yabloke party was silenced. The Supreme Court filed a ban on the organization showing fabricated evidence through AI-generated videos with Soviet-era songs and connections with the Hiroshima nuclear disaster. The ruling said that the leaders, such as Boris Nadezhdin are extremists and anti-nationalists that seek to handle the mother Russia to the decaying West and NATO. Two words that are dreadful in Putin’s senile mind.
To ensure the Kremlin's hand inside the Duma, only sycophants’ political factions were allowed, including the Communists, A Just Russia, the Liberal Democrats, and New People, who act as compliant proxies. Without an authentic opposition, these organizations trade legislative compliance for political survival. They vote alongside United Russia to enact wartime legislation, suppress civil liberties, and centralize power around Putin’s executive office.
Putin’s demands are quite ironic. The election’s outcome is to determine more sacrifice from citizens in the mad development of the country, now completely shifted into the military industry. The rest of the social spectrum is completely neglected. As the cold weather approaches faster, people face crumbling utility infrastructure and heating shortages while national wealth is consumed by drone, missile, and AI-slop production. Unfortunately, Russians remain trapped in an unending war engineered to maintain Putin’s insanity.
