Donald Trump’s $1.3 Trillion Bribe
How desperate the old Donald is to bribe an entire country prior to the November midterms? If the Republicans win, it’ll be a platonic dream rather than a reality. Trump’s not helping too much. The latest poll on his approval sits at 37%. A hand full of blind fanatics can’t reverse a voting outcome. His political momentum is driving straight into a brick wall.
At a rally in Texas, Trump promised a $5,000 check to every citizen. We don’t know if immigrants holding American citizenship will see a penny of it. Roughly, we’re talking about 270 million eligible people. Doing the math, the money to send is about $1.3 trillion. The so-called president, backed up by his useless vice-president, justified the bribe as dividends collected from the foolish tariffs they applied every three months. Though real economists and financial experts from the Bipartisan Policy Center did the real math, tariff revenues peaked at only $475 billion. It’d take the White House five years or more to pay. Trump could sell his Mar-a-Lago house to balance the new debt on his countrymen and women.
It’s not the first time that someone wants to interfere with an election. Elon Musk did it twice. First, he offered one million dollars to whoever voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential campaign, and second, he tossed again another million to voters in Wisconsin during the Supreme Court election. In the meantime, we have the president of the United States that joined the outlawed scheme. Despite this, lawyers will always find convenient flaws in federal election laws to protect them.
Legal experts are already spinning the announcement as a standard tax cut. John Day, a lawyer in New Mexico or New America, argued that the promise doesn’t legally qualify as an incitement to vote. The absolute cowardice of that defense is hilarious. Trump knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s losing control over the House and the Senate, his popularity is vanishing, and he refuses to accept defeat.
Every U.S. citizen should be horrified by Trump’s behavior. The man has hollowed out the last scrap of his own dignity, and his staff openly cheers a massive financial bribe as standard campaign strategy. What used to be a functioning modern democracy is now a rigged system managed entirely by corporate billionaires who drain the public to fund their endless warfare and vanity projects. They need this thriving engine of corruption to keep their pockets full. Trump's glass is already half empty; it’s time to finish emptying it and move straight to impeachment.
